While I am strongly in favor of moving authors towards using the <html:object> element, trying to change the <rss:image> is not a very safe or stable approach.

It would be very nice to add one , optional (and experimental) <rss:channellogo> element which in addition to it's desired information attributes contains one <rss:logoobjectnest> element that envelopes an <html:object> ,with the definition of <html:object> in the namespace and dtd where it belongs at w3. I will see if I can generate the element dtd fragment for this discussion.

Clients of rss could then easily just stick with <rss:image> ( now sporting PNG! ) while the adventures with multiple namespaces and working xhtml clients continues.
