Suppose, hypothetically, you were going to release a spec under a Creative Commons license, and you wanted the terms to match, as closely as possible, the Copyright and Disclaimer on the RSS 2.0 spec. Which one would you use?

Dave,
I'd vote for Attribution-ShareAlike. It seems to match pretty closely with the Copyright and Disclaimer on the RSS 2.0 spec.

Elmer, I just got off the phone with Brent Simmons where we walked through this problem, and we came to the same conclusion.

Did you try clicking on the three radio buttons on the CC site?

I'd say Attribution-NoDerivs would suit better, considering the following from the RSS spec: "This document may not be modified in any way" ...

I would say the ShareAlike License is what you are after. My only reservation lies in some confusion about attribution. It seems if one requires that the copyright be maintained in redistribution doesn't that give the original author credit? Apparently not, and thus the distinction. The 'no claim of ownership is made by UserLand to the format it describes' makes me think that Attribution may not be a requirement for the License.
