Dave: "What do HTTP headers have to do with elements of a feed?" HTTP is just an example, but an important one given that RSS over HTTP is far more popular than anything else. The point I was trying to make is that the issues lastBuildDate, ttl, skipHours, skipDays are concerned with (such as caching) should be dealt with at the level of the underlying *transfer protocol*. That's what they have to do with each other.
